What a beautiful day we had for our Green Leader Brigade "Tree Diversity" skill-building session on October 7th!  Thank you to Jenny Willoughby, Sustainability Manager for the City of Frederick and to their Chesapeake Conservation Corps volunteer, Yash, for taking our group on a very informative walk through Waterford Park in Frederick.  Participants learned about tree canopy, diversity and choosing the right tree for the right place.   Thank you to everyone who participated!   If you would like more information about the Green Leader Brigade and our upcoming events, please email Sustainability@FrederickCountyMD.gov.

We will recognize certified households at our 7th annual Green Homes Challenge Recognition Event on March 29, 2018.  It's a fun evening, and certified households are eligible for a prize drawing from our event sponsors!   If you haven't certified yet, there is still time!   You will get one entry for each challenge you are certified in!  

The Frederick County Sustainability Commission is partnering with Frederick Community College to host Toward a More Sustainable Frederick County - an event on October 16th, 9:00 to 3:00, at the FCC Conference Center. Frederick County continues to be a leader in the state and region, with sustainability initiatives in many areas. The County Executive is providing the key note address, along with the President of FCC and other community leaders. Small workshops provide for personal interaction among attendees and experts in many areas.
