The Green Homes Appliance Rebate program makes Energy Star appliance upgrades more affordable for low- to moderate-income households! Energy Star-certified appliances save money on electric bills, are better for the environment, and get better overall performance.
Your exact rebate amount will be determined when you apply and submit proof of purchase. The rebate will cover up to 65% of the cost of your new Energy Star appliance, but can not exceed the following limits:
Refrigerator: up to $1,000 rebate Dishwasher: up to $250 rebate Clothes Washer: up to $500 rebate Clothes Dryer: up to $500 rebate Electric Stove: up to $400 rebate
Reside on property in Frederick County, Maryland. (May be a renter or property owner.)
Reside in a home, townhome, condominium, mobile home, or duplex. (Apartments not eligible.)
Be the account holder/individual who pays the electric bill for the dwelling.
Have purchased eligible new Energy-Star-Certified appliances within the past 90 days. (This may include electric-powered stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, clothes washers, or dryers.)
Have purchased new appliances from a licensed retail establishment. Refurbished/used appliances and items purchased from individual sellers are NOT eligible.
Be part of a low- to moderate-income household (see chart below)

Before applying, applicants will need to have the following materials ready:
Proof of household income. Can be:
Pages 1-2 of the prior year's federal income tax return, or,
Statement of benefits or financial assistance (such as Unemployment, Social Security, Section 8, etc.), or,
4 most recent pay stubs for each adult residing in the home.
Proof of electricity utility account.
Front page of the most recent electric bill.
Proof of purchase for Energy Star-rated appliances. Can be:
Store receipt with appliances circled or highlighted, or,
A paid invoice showing the appliance models purchased.
If the applicant is a renter, they must have permission from the property owner/landlord.
The property owner/landlord's name and contact information must be provided.
The rebate will only cover up to 65% of the cost of the appliance purchased.
Only electric-powered stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers are available. No other appliances are included.
Appliances must be new Energy-Star-certified models purchased from a licensed retail establishment.
Used, second-hand, refurbished units and appliances sold by individual sellers are NOT eligible.
Appliances must have been purchased within 90 days of applying for the rebate.
Apartment units are not eligible for participation as the rebate recipient must be a utility/electric bill account holder.
Each property address is eligible to receive one rebate for each type of appliance one time only,
ENERGY STAR products are the same or better than standard products, only they use less energy. To earn the ENERGY STAR, they must meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the US Environmental Protection Agency or the US Department of Energy. Since they use less energy, these products save you money on your electricity bill and help protect the environment by causing fewer harmful emissions from power plants.
